Training

From experience it is my deeply held belief that successful therapy is based on getting connected and sharing enjoyable experiences. This is central to building the understanding of why communication is a pleasurable and valuable thing. This then creates an environment in which children are more willing to take a risk and attempt something they find difficult or unfamiliar.

Sharing knowledge, strategies and techniques to deliver speech and language therapy and teaching is something I feel very passionate about. As an Attention Autism Advanced Practitioner I hold a licence to deliver face to face Day 1 and Day 2 training for the Attention Autism Approach (Gina Davies). Initially as a response to face to face training being impossible an online version of the training has been devised and received with incredibly positive feedback. Despite the online nature the training is still practical and it also incorporates individual coaching. This practical training equips the participants with the understanding and knowledge to deliver the approach to the children and young people they are supporting.

I first met Louise Coigley (Lis’n Tell: Live Inclusive Storytelling) in 2008 and have embedded her approach into my way of working. I am currently among her first cohort to undertake her trainer training and am very excited about being able to share this approach in the future.
